Period allowed to return
The Free People return window is 30 days.
That is sufficient time for anyone to look for defects and return in time if there is any.
Free People only accept returns that are unused, unwashed or defective. If you bought a Free People merchandise from an independent seller, you must return that item to that seller only, and you will have to check out their return policy.
If Free People receive your return after 30 days, they can only issue you a Free People eGift Card.
If you paid for something via gift card or eGift card, you would get a refund in the form of a new eGift card in the amount of the credit, and it shall be emailed to you.
What if you want to exchange your Free People items?
If you ordered a wrong size or color, Free People could exchange it for free!
Just go to their online return portal described below in ‘how to return’ and make your exchange.
If you don’t make an exchange within 30 days, you will be charged your original form of payment again.
Free People International Online Return Policy
The return should be unused, unwashed or defective and should be bought from freepeople.com to be eligible for a return. Once they receive your return package, you must give them from a week to a week and a half to process your return.

Free People: When Will I Be Refunded?
It will take from a week to a week and a half for Free People to process your return. They will send you a Return Notification email when the process is completed.
It will take 1-3 business days for refunds to be credited to you in the original form of payment.
Free People Store Return Policy
Free People stores take the return of items bought from freepeople.com and Free People stores.
The returning items must not be used, washed, altered or worn. They all should be in their original condition.
All Beauty and Wellness products can be returned only at the stores that sell them. Check this link to find a Beauty and Wellness store near you. There would be a lipstick icon next to the store, which has a Beauty and Wellness product lining.
- Items bought from Free people store must be returned to a Free People store.
- The returning item must include the attached Free People price tickets and also the original store sales receipt.
- After you return the item to a Free People store, they’ll issue a refund to your original form of payment.
- Returns that have a gift receipt shall be refunded or exchanged for the value indicated on the receipt.

Free People does not accept COD returns, give them a week to a week and a half to process your return after receiving it.
Free People: Gift Returns
If you received a gift from freepeople.com and want to return it, go here, to get you pre-paid SmartLabel. You must select ‘GIFT’ when processing your return to receive an e-Gift Card for your refund.
You need the original order number and billing zip code to process your gift return. In case you lost it, contact Free People here, or call them at 800-309-1500. To locate the gift order, you must provide them with the first and last name of the person who purchased the gift with their email address.
Free People: Price Adjustments
If something you bought is now on sale, Free People will gladly offer you a one-time price adjustment if you contact them within 14 days of the in-store purchase or shipment.
For orders made online or on the phone, call at (800) 309-1500 or go here to request a price adjustment. Free People does not offer price adjustments on shipping charges.
If you bought from Free People store, then go to your nearest Free People store using their store locator, with the receipt and ask for a price adjustment.
Free People does not give price adjustments on temporary promotions, discounts and merchandise purchased at their independent boutiques and department stores.
Promotions and discounts can’t be applied retroactively to orders placed before the promotion discount was activated.
Credits shall be applied back in the original form of payment, if you used a gift card or an e-Gift card, a new gift card or e-Gift Card would be issued in the amount of the credit.
How to return a Free People Merchandise?
- Go here or go to ‘My Account’ and select ‘Order History’ to locate your order.
- Select the items you are trying to return or exchange. If the item was a gift, check the gift box to receive an eGift Card for a refund.
- Get your return label, pack up your items, and drop them in the mail. You will soon get an email containing your return tracking number.
Free People shall deduct $5.95 per return. It will take 1-3 business days for Free People to refund the credit in your original form of payment.
Contact Free People customer service if you are returning an oversized and/or hazardous item.
